We are looking for someone to join our team in the Netherlands as a Risk Analyst.
Role objectives
Working closely with the risk management teams in England you will support SEFE Energy in the Netherlands with the following activity
- The preparation and presentation of risk assessment, involving assessment of quantitative and qualitative factors, macro & micro economic trends, and latest developments.
- Challenge the existing credit risk processes, solve complex problems, and drive the business to adapt agilely with emerging trends in credit risk management.
- Delivery of Risk Control Assessments (RCA’s) to evaluate and strengthen controls across the business operating model, in partnership with senior management and the managing director.
- Propose and develop enhancement to periodic risk reporting for the benefit of senior management.
- Contribute to the development of the risk framework for SEFE Energy that will deliver the appropriate governance, policies, measurement, reporting and provide a robust and independent 2nd Line of Defence point of view
Duties & Responsibilities
- Production of detailed counterparty Credit Application Requests, incorporating a detailed financial analysis and a full appraisal of all credit risk factors.
- To ensure all credit applications processed and the associated reporting is conducted with full compliance to both Group and SEFE Energy credit policies and procedures.
- Support the identification and assessment of operational risk incidents using the Incident Management System (IMS) to support commercial development and maintain risk oversight
- Contribute to the development of risk control monitoring, including sourcing of data in a sustainable way and to improve data quality
- To constantly monitor the credit risk environment and macro-economic trends.
- Constantly review credit process, systems, and data. In particular Credit / Commercial interfaces, ensuring optimal processes are in place.
- Manage complex projects that require coordination with external suppliers and internal departments, working autonomously to present workable results within deadlines.
- Regular review of Credit policy and procedures– proactively identifying opportunities for mitigating credit risk (e.g. credit insurance, security) whilst allowing for managed growth.
- Participate in meetings with Commercial teams and the customers directly, to resolve issues and identify solutions that enable credit facilities to be approved.
- Analysis of portfolio credit reporting including potential future exposure, expected loss and Mark to Market metrics to ensure key risks and opportunities are identified.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Strong ability to utilise Data Sets and credit tools
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to a changing environment
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to produce accurate reports within tight deadlines
- Effective written and verbal communication skills (Dutch and English essential)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Excel
- Demonstrated ability to assess complex problems and deliver solutions
- Knowledge of coding languages (Python) – advantageous
Experience
- Strong understanding of risk management and frameworks
- Ability to understand and analyse financial statements and credit bureau reports (essential)
- The initiative to propose solutions and to act independently combined with the confidence to effectively challenge the status quo.
- Demonstrable track record of identifying areas for improvement in processes and technical solutions
Education
- Educated to degree level in finance, numerical or comparable subject is preferable
