We are looking for a Management Accountant to join our Finance team in Paris.

Role objectives

This is a pivotal role with a key focus on the deliverables of Commercial Finance and Management Accounting. The role holder will contribute to the preparation of the monthly management accounts for the French Business Unit and comply with internal and external financial accounting.

The role will also be to interpret and analyse industry, commercial and financial data as well as validating and approving key supplier invoices. The role holder will be expected to make a contribution to the business’ financial performance by identifying potential areas of gross margin leakage.

In addition, the role will involve business partnering with the local teams and support the wider Finance team as and when required.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participating in month-end close processes and ensuring all procedures within the remit are completed to the internal and Group deadlines
  • Production of monthly IFRS management accounts with heavy focus on Gross Margin and Overheads with subsequent analysis and commentary
  • Analysis of P&L and Balance Sheet accounts
  • Production of monthly internal and Group reporting to its deadlines
  • Preparation of interim and year end audit packs and supporting with statutory audits
  • Conduct analysis and validation of industry invoices
  • Taking ownership of the commodity trade confirmations process and reconciliation and agreement of intercompany invoices, ensuring that all commodity invoices are settled in line with the prevailing commodity purchase agreements
  • Conduct variance analysis between industry costs and customer billing
  • Investigate reasons for under-recoveries and gross margin leakage and liaise with internal departments and external parties to resolve issues
  • To aid in the development and improvement of models to assist with the invoice validations process
  • To maintain documentation of applicable working processes and to keep a full audit trail of all workings
  • Other ad hoc work including responding to information requests from across the Company
  • Completion of all tasks in a timely manner and to a high standard of quality
  • Other ad hoc accounting, reporting and/or project work including responding to information requests from across the wider Group.

The role holder will also be required to carry out ad-hoc Tax and Treasury support and other duties within the scope and purpose of this role as requested by their line manager and in line with business needs

Skills & Competencies

  • Experience of working in a dynamic environment and diverse team
  • Working to a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to explain complex information in a clear and concise way to finance and non-finance stakeholders
  • Excellent IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and experience of using SQL and Python would be a big advantage
  • Ability to manipulate large data sets within Excel to identify variances and discrepancies
  • Good understanding of financial processes, ability to challenge the status quo, driving through effective changes and continuous improvements
  • Self-sufficiency and confidence to put ideas forward
  • Highly motivated and proactive individual and team player, with a desire to learn new skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and a willingness to work flexibly, working well within a team and under own initiative
  • Fluency in English and French is essential

Experience

  • Strong academic results
  • Newly qualified or close to qualifed accountant (Diplôme d’expertise comptable)
  • Experience of using SAP accounting package
