LNG Trading Analyst

Role objectives

SEFE M&T Ltd is looking for a skilful candidate with a hungry mindset to create value for the LNG desk.


Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will report directly into the Head of LNG Trading and have various responsibilities, but mainly:

  • Be the desk’s focal point for S&D analysis. They will coordinate with SEFE’s wider analyst, regulation and meteorology group and manage external resources effectively (subscriptions/analysts call). They will provide the desk with daily briefs on key structural, cyclical and ad-hoc market events across multi-commodities and macro. They will enhance our existing tools and report to tailor to the desk needs and support decision making and information flow.
  • The successful candidate will also need to ensure the desk exposures across LNG, Gas and Shipping are kept updated following new trade flow and operational changes. The will send orders and cover for the paper execution desk following trading decision on derivatives positioning. They will ensure daily P&L moves are reported accurately, monitor and report performance of the desk’s key positions on a daily basis.
  • Support the desk with ad-hoc analysis requests on deal economics and S&D scenarios. Own and maintain the economic/optimisation models and tools of the desk.

Analytical Support:

  • Manage the S/D LNG Trading requirements with the Analytics team
  • PL and exposure reporting
  • Portfolio optimisations and economics
  • Responsibility for the trading optimisation model
  • Responsibility for various pricing sheets
  • Run FOB/DES economics

Relationship management:

  • Strong interpersonal relationships to be able to coordinate individual people work and achieve clear objectives for the desk.

Skills & Competencies

  • Very strong understanding of global gas balances and pricing dynamics;
  • Prolific in S&D modelling and underlying stack/regression models;
  • Excellent financial and analytical skills with advanced computer skills (SQL/Python or equivalent);
  • Strong global team player, able to work in an intense and environment of an evolving business to meet tight deadlines with limited supervision;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, confident and articulate;
  • Ability to frame complex problems, apply creative analysis, formulate pragmatic solutions and present effectively;
  • Fluent in English.



  • Proven track record and experience in S&D modelling and analytics.
  • Experience at a commodity trading firm or similar financial services environments.



  • Degree educated in a numerical or financial subject
