Role objectives
The EPM Business Analyst (London) is required to support the annual operating plan of the Enterprise Performance Management and Analytics team. This role is a member of the EPM team and aligned to the Finance business stakeholders in London. This role will support the business, within the context of business processes, in implementing technical solutions to meet requirements within the SAP environment.
This role is a delivery role that is expected to work on projects, small enhancements, tactical solutions and BAU to enable the SAP Finance roadmap.
In addition, it is expected that the EPM Business Analyst will collaborate with the Senior BW/BI Developer and EPM Capability Manager to identify and propose improvements in both business processes and the system, and work with the business stakeholders to convert improvement proposals into business requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The EPM Business Analyst will be involved in the delivery of Projects, Enhancements and Support to our BI, Planning and Consolidation systems.
- Analyse and elicit the business requirements and develop blueprint and/or designs as per best practises.
- Capturing Requirement and preparation of Functional Specification Documents, Process Design Document, Technical Specification Documents, User requirements documents, Test Script and End User Manual.
- Support Integration and User Acceptance Testing.
- Perform data analysis and support the business in data enrichment and enhancement activities in order to ensure the delivery of high-quality Management Information
- Be the local go-to person to provide super users with expert advise and support using the EPM application suite
- Assist the Application support team in periodic systems maintenance and monitoring tasks, ensuring preventative measures are in place to avoid incidents
- Work directly with the local Finance, H and Procurement teams on rapid prototype developments for quick wins and defining long term solutions
- Manage, guide and work with inhouse/onshore, near shore and offshore teams.
- Work with Business analysts, end users and partners in multiple locations to deliver a usable solution.
Skills & Competencies
- Finance and Accounting: Experience working as part of a Management Reporting team with good knowledge of Finance KPI’s, reporting cycles and Planning and Budgeting processes.
- Data Knowledge: Proficient in understanding Finance Data Structures, ideally in a Financial Services or Trading environment, with knowledge of financial instruments and derivatives and how this translate into a data model.
- Modelling: knowledge of data warehouse concepts and experience in BW Architecture (or similar), Extended Star-Schema, Multi-Dimensional Modelling and Data Flow Strategy.
- Extractions: Good knowledge of ETL best practices and tools
- Customisations: Business Content, extending and enhancing exits, DataSource Enhancements / Design.
- Reporting: Use of BW tools i.e. Queries, Workbooks, BEx Analyzer, Web Application Designer, RRI, and Analysis for Office. Experience in other technologies will also be considered (Oracle, Power BI, Tableau or similar)
- Knowledge of Cloud analytics would be an advantage.
- Training: Able to provide Training to Expert Users and End Users.
- IP (Integrated Planning): Must have created Planning solutions to solve business needs.
- Planning: Experience in Financial planning and Analytics and associated processes and systems. Knowledge of SAP BI-IP, BPC, Anaplan, SAC for Planning or Hyperion will be an advantage.
- Good Functional knowledge of the following SAP ECC modules:
- FI (New GL, AR, AP)
- CO
- FSCM (Treasury)

Experience
Experience
- CIMA or equivalent experience
- Preferably from a Big 4 / Tier 1 consulting background
- Demonstrate credibility with working with business colleagues including the ability to provide appropriate challenge and review to requirements
- Functional Specification and configuration of SAP modules as well as functional specification of custom development
- Business Analysis skills and experience
- FP&A experience, ideally practical experience as part of an FP&A team or as technical support to a FP&A team
- Experience in trading / integrated supply and trading would be an advantage
- Experience working with offshore teams
- Experience with implementing global processes and solutions a plus
- Experienced with waterfall and Agile delivery methodology
- Hands on experience developing, testing and delivering SAP Business Warehouse (BW) or equivalent components.
- Performing Unit, System and Integration testing
Education
- Degree (or equivalent ideally in an accounting or financial management related subject)
- CIMA
- SAP or IT Professional certifications in desired skill areas an advantage, but genuine experience implementing SAP BW solutions is most important.
