The Technical Lead will be supporting the Environmental Products Origination team, The ideal candidate will have experience in developing carbon project ratings frameworks across different project types and applying them to produce comparative project assessments to inform investment decisions.

The Technical Lead will be supporting the Environmental Products Origination team where you will develop carbon project ratings frameworks across different project types and applying them to produce comparative project assessments to inform investment decisions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

As an Environmental Technical Lead you will ensure deal pipeline is filled with high-quality and high integrity opportunities. You will provide ongoing guidance as to which project types represent the best value proposition given its performance metrics by engaging with internal and external stakeholders throughout the deal lifecycle. You will take a leading role in the creation of a formalised comparative framework for carbon projects, its operation and evolution. You will also be responsible for;

Due Diligence & Feasibility

  • Perform in-house desk based technical due diligence on projects, liaising with consultants where required
  • Perform site visit to assess technical capability of project operator.
  • Advise on methodological and design considerations
  • Perform quality and integrity gap analysis and create workplans highlighting remedial actions required for projects to hit benchmarks

Contracting

  • Inform Environmental Products and Legal of best practice, regarding design and implementation of projects and assist in the creation of contractual terms to ensure that it is realised.
  • Identify key upfront technical risks, develop mitigation strategy and incorporate in to contract and project design

Ongoing Management

  • Protect SEFE’s investment interests by monitoring the performance of each of the projects in its portfolio
  • Liaise with key stakeholders from each of the projects in SEFEs portfolio and reporting on any developments which could impact their value.
  • Report to key internal stakeholders on technical developments, project assessments, methodological updates, industry guidance which could impact project/credit portfolio or origination interests.
  • Identify any unforeseen technical risks that evolve throughout the project lifecycle and mitigate to the extent possible, ongoing management of those previously identified
  • Maintain full compliance with SEFE Group Risk framework and other relevant frameworks and guidelines

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

Your extensive knowledge of Carbon crediting methodologies and standards is essential, ideally you will also have knowledge and the voluntary carbon credit quality and integrity drivers. This will enable you to build robust carbon project rating frameworks as well as implement and measure carbon project co-benefits using the latest Carbon project integrity and quality initiatives. Knowledge of ICVCM’s Core Carbon Principles is key to success.  You will also have;

  • Extensive experience analysing VCM projects and knowledge of how to apply best in class design.
  • Manage multiple priorities in a constantly changing environment
  • Excellent written and spoken English. Knowledge of German or other languages is an advantage.
  • Strong Word and Excel skills are essential with strong numeric and analytical ability including spreadsheet skills;
  • Innovative forward thinking; ability to analyse current work practices and suggest and rapidly implement improvements and solutions;
