Role objectives
- Working extensively with the Carbon and Power traders
- Maintain a deep understanding of fundamentals and market developments of carbon markets with a particular focus on compliance market (e.g. EU ETS and UK ETS)
- Develop, maintain and refine supply & demand carbon scenarios and market models leading to profitable trading decisions on carbon compliance markets
- Role reports into the Carbon trader
Duties & Responsibilities
- Design and develop decision-supporting analysis, tools and models that support profitable trading in carbon compliance markets
- Maintain market knowledge on drivers of changes to carbon markets and adapt models and scenarios to be able to perform in new market conditions.
- Support trading decisions by providing ad hoc trading analysis
- Work closely with IT, other analytical/developmental teams to ensure data sourcing/developed models can be integrated and maintained in current infrastructure

Experience
- Proven current experience in analysing the EU ETS. Experience running supply and demand balances and using these to analyse future pricing trends.
- Detailed understanding of the theory (and practicalities) of compliance carbon and voluntary markets
- Excellent understanding of carbon policy and its implications for compliance and voluntary carbon markets
- Experience of designing/maintaining mathematical models
- Experience of working with large data sets/data science.
- Data analysis and coding skills using Python, SQL
- Quantitative analytical background a distinct advantage.
Education
- Degree in a numerate subject (mathematics/Computer science preferred) or equivalent experience
- Should demonstrate commitment to continued learning
